The white gold dial is engraved and then coated with layers of enamel to recall the shifting colors of a lake at sunset.

For the first time, an Automatique case is presented in stainless steel, with the finishing inverted to further emphasize the material itself.
FINISHING TOUCHES
The Calibre JCB-003’s gold micro-rotor is engraved with the watch’s name and the artist’s signature, as you would find them on one of his paintings.
A unique
artistic
collaboration
For the 2024 TimeForArt charity auction, we have collaborated with Swiss artist Guillaume Ehinger to create a unique Biver Automatique that blends traditional watchmaking crafts with an avante-garde perspective on the nature of time itself.
“Echoes of this Moment”,
A unique watch for the time for art auction.
“Echoes of this Moment” is a unique take on the recently released Automatique, Biver’s first time-only watch. Here, the 39mm time-only watch is rendered in stainless steel for the first time, instead of the usual platinum and rose gold, offering a different canvas on which our expert decorators can display their skills. We decided to emphasize this by reversing the finishing styles throughout, so the tops and sides of the lugs, as well as the sides of the case, are brightly polished and the facets and bezel are brushed.
Ultimately, though, the real focus is on the watch’s incredible handmade dial. Developed with Ehinger and inspired by his abstract landscape paintings, the dial begins with a solid 18k white gold dial plate, which is hand engraved with a rippling pattern before having multiple layers of colored enamel applied on top. The result is a dial that shimmers like the surface of a lake at sunset, with the red, pink, and grey tones dancing as light hits its surface. It will never look exactly the same twice, inviting the viewer to experience and enjoy each glance as its own elusive moment.
Carrying the collaboration through to the movement itself, the Calibre JCB-003 features a special 22k gold micro-rotor that is engraved with “Echoes of this Moment” and Ehinger’s signature, as if it were one of his canvases.
The watch will be sold as part of the TimeForArt auction, taking place at Phillips in New York City on December 7, 2024, with proceeds benefiting the Swiss Institute’s artistic endeavours.
